SUMMARY: Independent Engineering Advice

The landlord of The Shard appointed Freeman Beesley to provide independent engineering advice with respect to testing and commissioning primarily for the commercial floors.

The role lasted for approximately two years, after the base-building was completed, during the period when the shell and core floors were being let and occupied by commercial tenants.

The initial objective was to ensure that the primary HVAC systems were providing the correct quantities of fresh air, heating and cooling to each space.

This was then followed by a liaison role with incoming tenants to ensure their fit-out designs were compatible with the base-build strategies and that their final installations worked correctly.
