HANNINGTONS LANE | Brighton, East Sussex
SUMMARY: Redevelopment of Hanningtons Lane
CLIENT: Redevco UK
ARCHITECT: Morgan Carn Partnership
Hanningtons Lane is located within the 1.3 acre Hanningtons Estate. Freeman Beesley are the M&E Consultant for various refurbishment works throughout the rest of the estate. The area is an important landmark between the attractions of The Lanes, North Laine, East Street, the Cultural Quarter, Brighton Beach and Pier.
The Hanningtons Lane project involves the creation of a new boutique shopping lane and mixed use development in the centre of Brighton. The site, located within Brighton’s famous Lanes, will include retail units, restaurants/cafes, offices and apartments.
The enabling works for the project included the relocation and upgrade of an existing sub-station to create a new entrance to the historic Lanes from North Street.
Freeman Beesley developed the design for the new integral sub-station chamber with UK Power Networks together with a detailed programme of works to allow the sub-station to be relocated without losing power to existing customers. The sub-station was successfully relocated in July 2017.
As the M&E Consultants, Freeman Beesley are working alongside architects Morgan Carn Partnership and HOP Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers on the major re-development of this area.
