ABERDEEN SOUTH APARTMENTS | Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire
SUMMARY: Apartrooms and Retail Space
CLIENT: D4 Development (UK) Ltd
SIZE: In excess of 5,000m²
The project consists of four blocks of 10 - 12 apartments intended to provide intermittent accommodation for oil and gas workers who live elsewhere but work in Aberdeen for extended periods.
Freeman Beesley provided the strategic M&E design for the site infrastructure and the apartment blocks. Schematics were produced to demonstrate system configurations as well as pipe/cable sizing and other design information.
Each apartment block is constructed from 12 separate prefabricated modules, which are then transported to Aberdeen and brought together piece by piece. This approach favours design coordination at the earliest possible stage.
Freeman Beesley worked closely with the client to ensure the M&E strategies were compatible and coordinated with the modular designs.
All blocks have photo-voltaic panels to help reduce the annual carbon emissions. Each apartment also has remote metering and controls enabling energy consumption to be carefully maintained in order to avoid waste.
