This was a fast-track design and build contract to take the two new buildings from a developers Cat-A standard to a fully functioning administrative and engineering campus.

Freeman Beesley provided design services for all M&E services including air-conditioning, fire protection and standby power systems.

This project was significant for both the technically diverse use of the space and the speed with which the contract had to be completed.

The early design workshop sessions took place in November and the buildings were eventually occupied in August - a period of just 10 months.

In order to achieve such a tight programme, Freeman Beesley set up a design office on site and worked closely with the client and the M&E sub-contractors to ensure the designs and ongoing construction works kept up with an evolving brief.

The buildings serve 1,000 staff and they incorporate a suite of meeting and presentation rooms, a staff restaurant and associated kitchen, two fully protected computer rooms (with standby power and fire suppression) and four test and research laboratories.
