LOWLANDS RECREATION GROUND | Harrow, London

SUMMARY: Redevelopment of Recreation Ground

CLIENT: Harrow Council

ARCHITECT: Adams & Sutherland

Lowlands is a small park adjacent to Harrow-on-the-Hill train station. This project comprised re-modelling the park together with the construction of a new multi-use building. The building contains a café and a large multi-purpose space that functions as a nursery, meeting hall, yoga studio and a theatre.

Large barn doors open out onto an external stage area, fronting new terraces of seating in the park for the staging of concerts and plays. Full theatre sound and lighting systems are installed in the building and a network of cable ducts and electrical outlets have been installed in the park.

In addition to theatrical events, the park has also been designed to be used for the occasional market and Christmas fair.
